CFM56-3 high-bypass turbofan reduces fuel burn and CO2 emissions by 24% vs. older low-bypass engines. 

1997

CFM56-7B engine reduces fuel burn and CO2 emissions by 7% vs. CFM56-3.

2016

LEAP engines set a new standard, providing a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. CFM products brought total improvements of 40% since 1980s.

2025+

Advanced, disruptive technology could bring up to an additional 20% reduction in fuel burn and CO2 vs. today’s LEAP engine family. Technology is 100% compatible with sustainable fuels.
