CFM parent company Safran Aircraft Engines has inaugurated its largest maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) center dedicated to the LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines. This new facility, in Hyderabad, will support the rapid growth of the fleet in the region and support airlines around the world.

A major investment to support the growth of the LEAP fleet

Covering an area of 45,000 m², the facility represents an investment of €200 million and will gradually be brought into service starting in 2026 with:

  • a target capacity of 300 LEAP shop visits per year,
  • a new-generation test cell,
  • a workforce that will grow from 250 employees at launch to more than 1,100 in the long term.

India is one of the fastest-growing marketing in the world and this center will play a key role in supporting Indian airlines, as well as all LEAP engine operators worldwide.

India is currently the third-largest market for CFM, with more than 400 aircraft equipped with LEAP engines in service and more than 2,000 engines on order.

Enhanced proximity for our customers

“The opening of this new MRO center is a major step in strengthening the global support capacity for the LEAP engine. It will allow us to offer our customers optimized turnaround times, greater flexibility and operational excellence, right at the heart of a region where fleets are expanding rapidly,” said Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran.

An integrated training center will train more than 100 Indian technicians and engineers each year. This program complements the existing CFM training center already located in Hyderabad, further enhancing local capacity for developing technical skills.

An additional asset for the reliability and availability of the LEAP fleet

With the addition of this shop, CFM continues to expand its global MRO ecosystem to meet growing demand linked to the production ramp-up of LEAP engines, which power the majority of Airbus A320neo and all Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

This new site is a strategic pillar in the global LEAP ecosystem and will help support the performance, availability, and operational competitiveness of airlines over the long term.
