CFM International (CFMI) delivered its 7,000th CFM56 engine this week.
CFMI, a 50/50 joint company of Snecma (Safran Group) of France and General Electric of the United States, is the world's largest manufacturer of large commercial jet engines.
Engine deliveries this week included the long-proven and highly reliable CFM56-3 for the Boeing 737, the CFM56-5A for the Airbus Industrie A320, and the CFM56-5C for the A340. In addition, the first CFM56-5B engine equipped with a double annular combustor (DAC) was delivered on an Airbus A321. The CFM56-5B DAC is the first commercial engine with a low NOx (oxides of nitrogen) combustor to enter service.
With the 7,000th CFM56 delivery, CFM has a remaining backlog of 3,000 engines (firm orders and options).
