CFM Celebrates the new chapter of Aero Engine Maintenance Training Center

Zhuhai, China — At the 13th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, CFM International and its partners celebrated a series of new milestones recently achieved by the Aero Engine Maintenance Training Center (hereinafter referred to as AEMTC) in Guanghan, Sichuan:

• This year marks the 25th anniversary of the AEMTC. In 1996, AEMTC was established by Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), GE Aviation, Safran Aircraft Engines, CFM International, Civil Aviation Supplies Holding Company (CAS) and Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC). AEMTC is the first civil aviation engine vocational training center in China and the first such world-class CFM training facility outside the U.S. and France.
• The 15,000th student of AEMTC officially graduated. Over the past 25 years, the 15,000 airline technicians trained by the center have played an important role in the construction and development of civil aviation industry in China and even the world.
• AEMTC recently established the maintenance training capability of LEAP-1C integrated propulsion system including engine and nacelle, as well as CF34-10A engines. It is the only training center in the world that can provide high-quality engine maintenance training to support of the Chinese-made regional aircraft ARJ21 and the China domestic narrow-body aircraft C919.
• With the implement of LEAP-1C engine training course, AEMTC has become the only training center in the world for the full LEAP engine family, and has fully started the LEAP-1A/1B/1C engine training program in China, offering training courses including Powerplant Line & Base maintenance, Borescope inspection and Borescope Blade Blending. And promoted the steady growth of LEAP engines fleet in China.

Looking back on the history of AEMTC since its establishment, Weiming Xiang, President of CFM International Greater China, said: “AEMTC is a successful model of Sino-foreign joint training institutions in aviation industry. The 25 years of successful operation has strengthened our long-term commitment to support the development of China’s aviation industry. We will continue to join hands with all parties to push AEMTC to a new journey and train more talents for the long-term development of aviation industry. ”

As a world-class aero engine maintenance training center, AEMTC’s engine maintenance training courses cover CFM International’s LEAP engines and CFM56 engines, and GE’s CF6 engines and CF34-10A engines. In order to provide stronger support for the development of the industry and strengthen cooperation among all parties, AEMTC will move to the new CAFUC campus near the Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU), and its size will be double.
